Hmm… Let’s try this again. Third time’s a charm, right? Okay. So it’s Thanksgiving Day here in the U.S.
And I’m supposed to be thankful for stuff. Which I am. This year has been a bit rough, especially these past few months, and it’s hard for me, today, to get past the cynicism and stress this year, since I feel like there’s no end in sight, and it feels like it’s going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.
That aside, I’ve already written two versions of this post, and I’m hoping I can keep it positive this time.
So here we go.
I’m thankful that I have my family and my friends, who are all healthy, and getting healthier. I have food on my table and a roof over my head.
Words flow — sometimes in ways I don’t understand, sometimes in ways that surprise me, sometimes in ways I don’t want to understand.
My friends have short stories and series and novels that are coming together, and I couldn’t be happier for them. Some are starting to find their groove within their genres, others are exploring the full range.
Also, and I can’t even begin to express this enough…
Thank you to the troops — past, present, and future — for all the sacrifices you and your families make so we can enjoy the freedoms we enjoy on a daily basis.
Thank you to the men and women in blue who are out on the front lines of America every day. Even with the issues our country has seen lately, you are still an important part of our communities.
Thank you to the doctors and nurses and EMTs who sacrifice their time with their families for the well-being of ours.
Thank you to the firemen and women who risk their lives to save ours.
Also, thank you for turkey.
That’s all for now, and we’ll see you next time!
